My name is Angelica De Guglielmi Eva Penelope, aka Mushk, and I am an artist and a creator.
Explores the work My relationship Between Matter, identity, the Universality of myth, and life as performance. I Was born and Raised in Milan, and have been living and working in Venice for the past five years.
As art runs in the family, (my father is Also a painter, focusing on Pop-Art paintings), I Pursued sculpture and art early on, experimenting with painting and copper wires as a teenager. I won my first award at the age of 16 (Riccardo Bauer award, Milan) while studying art in college. I graduated with my BA in Fine Arts at the "Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera" (Milano), and Shortly Thereafter Moved to New-York and Then to Los-Angeles , looking to improve my English while researching new intriguing materials to express myself with.
While in the US, I Gradually Began to be more Focused on painting than on my usual Means of expression - sculpting. During this new beginning of experimenting through painting, I Became Familiar with alternative Substances, and Discovered my love for Using coffee, spices and polish as my shoe main materials, Alongside with ink and sometimes acrylics. At that time, my first painting collection Was created, and I called it "Heroes & Souls" as a tribute to Those who inspired me to create.
In 2013, I started to promote my art internationally, and had the honor to present my art, both sculptures and paintings, in international art shows for the first time: At the Ben-Uri Gallery (London) as part of the International Jewish Artist of the Year award; at the "100% Pure Joy" Community Art Show (Brooklyn, NY), and at the National Jewish Retreat art show (Alexandria, VA).
To my delight, my paintings were rapidly finding homes throughout Europe and the US, and at that point I decided to join my father back in Venice, and open together a new art gallery to present and sell our artwork. Located We Hotel Ca'Gottardi - an antique 15 th century Venetian palace Which has been Recently Converted into one of the most beautiful hotels in Venice, and established an exclusive Showroom in its main hall.
This new Showroom is now the third exhibition hall in Which our artwork is Presented, along with our two private Venice galleries: The "Galleria Levantina", located in the famous Jewish Ghetto, and the "Levantina's Factory", located in Santa Croce (Venice's medieval quarter), where we create and work, sometimes in the presence of guests and tourists.
I have recently begun to find special interest in combining Symbolism with High Renaissance,
Uniting unto them through by Means of unique materials and contemporary objects. I These new explorations the find very exciting, as They are Another step in my artistic journey through Dreams & Materials.
